Duplex: Dynamic backpage overlay
It is possible to print duplex with InterForm400. It is also even possible to add a duplex overlay on an overlay – without spooled file data. That is hopefully know by all. But what is probably not known to many is, that this (fixed) back page overlay (without spooled file data) can also be dynamically selected based on data found on the specific spooled file page.
This can be used for including terms and conditions, that are varies depending on the specific customer or a sold product. This can also be used for including an advertisement, which targets this exact customer type.
In the graphical designer you can refer to a dynamic back page overlay by enabling duplex on the overlay, selecting ‘Variable back page overlay’ and then state the line and position interval of the data in the spooled file to use. This is combined with a prefix. So if you e.g. state prefix: OVL and line=1 and positions from 1 to 3, then the data found in the spooled file here will be concatenated with ‘OVL’ to specify the full name of the back page overlay.
