Tech-Tip: Tip regarding: ‘Lost connection to host’ in InterForm400
Normally the InterForm400 designer works perfectly, but you might get into a situation where suddenly the network connection to the host is lost (or perhaps the PC even has a problem). You might get unhappy if you have done a large design without having saved the overlay back onto the host, and you might get the error ‘Lost connection to AS400’.
In both cases your work has been saved locally on the PC and suggested to be used the next time you connect to the same AS400. So if the connection is lost you just use the task manager to shut down the designer. Remember to go into InterForm400 and select option ‘60. Work with Designer job overlay locks’ on the administration menu to release the lock on the overlay. Now restart the designer (and perhaps even the PC) and when you connect again the designer will tell you that there is an unsaved overlay available and you are suggested to open it. Just open it and save and you are saved ;-)
